Tour de USA with Team DB – part one

I was incredibly excited and honoured to be asked back to Seattle to throw the first pitch at Seattle Mariners baseball game! Before this marvellous event Nell and I will be making stop offs on our journey to see some our favourite places across the pond.

Early morning starts seem all to familiar these past weeks. The first cup of tea of the day in Heathrow Airport gives us some well needed pep for our 6 hour journey to JFK, here we are going to stop off first to meet up with colleagues at Soho Publishing who publish my magazine.

Given the amazing weather we’d left behind in England we were surprised to arrive in a massive storm. Luckily Nell had brought her extremely stylish leopard print plastic raincoat. Unsurprisingly she fell straight into this chair in our shabby chic hotel The girl loves an animal print!

While Nell admired the sofa, I enjoyed the flowers in the flowers in the foyer!

I’m a firm believer that lard can have medicinal properties. Therefore a substantial American breakfast was in order the next morning to combat our jetlag.photo-6

After spending the morning at the offices of Soho Publishing we decided to go for a working lunch with Trisha Malcolm and Doreen Conners from Soho Publishing.

Afterwards we were joined by the fabulous Josh Bennett, knitwear designer.

On our final evening in NY we met up with the lovely Kay Gardiner of Mason-Dixon Line knitting book fame. She introduced us to Corpse Reviver cocktails and the Upper West Side. She took us back to her fabulous apartment overlooking Central Park West and made us a delicious dinner. It was the perfect way to spend our last evening.

After a great time in NYC we boarded a plane to Seattle for the next part of our journey.

But not before we’ve had another lard injection. We just can’t get enough of that American breakfast!

My husband discovered the Corpse Reviver cocktail last week. He was rather enamored with it.
